The Assurance Cloud Service™ provides critical end-to-end performance, fault and service quality management, and supports AI and machine learning (ML)-driven closed-loop assurance for hybrid, physical, and virtualized networks, across all domains, within a SaaS model.

MYCOM OSI’s SaaS assurance applications are Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) technology based services that are designed to be resilient, scalable, and distributed across AWS Regions as well as edge locations via AWS Outposts. Our SaaS tenants are data ingestion and analytics-heavy applications that handle hundreds of billions of incoming data records per hour, in order to serve up smart data to mission-critical network and service command-and-control centers that own the incident management process.

Why 5G needs a service assurance cloud for higher performance

5G standalone networks, designed for varied enterprise services, require network functions to be created and removed, literally, in a jiffy. We are now entering a world of sub-second and microsecond network function and service instantiations.

While this speed is promised through virtualisation of 5G networks and automation of the 5G network functions, it is only a service assurance system that can constantly assure the operations of the infra, network and services at this high speed and scale, predict problems and remediate dynamically.

5G and what it means for service assurance

5G; first there was a vision, then there was hype, then there were promises.  Finally, it’s here (or at the very least coming soon to a network near you).  Even in the UK, a market that was in danger of lagging behind on its 4G launches, we’re seeing EE switch on its 5G services in six UK cities this week, with Vodafone UK hot on its heels with a July launch.

So now it’s real, it’s timely to ask what will these new 5G services be? What will they deliver? And crucially how we can be sure that the promised answers to those first two questions are being delivered against?

These questions will among those posed to CSPs at the upcoming Telecom Assurance Cloud Summit (London: 11 June).

Kill the RFP? Yes please! Agile procurement can save billions and accelerate innovation

We have contributed to the most recent TM Forum research report “Time to Kill the RFP?”, looking at how the telecoms industry approaches procurement and how the process can be improved to save time, money and effort for all involved – CSPs and vendors alike.

Yes that’s right, a report into procurement processes – I can almost hear the collective groan.

But this is important. It’s costing the industry billions and erecting roadblocks to innovation that are actively harming the ability of CSPs to compete in the digital economy – and will be a key agenda item at the upcoming Telecom Assurance Cloud Summit (11 June 2019).

Time to Kill the RFP? Reinventing IT Procurement for the 2020s’ suggests that the telecom industry’s traditional Request for Proposal (RFP) process, which dates back to the 1980s, is broken – and that bad procurement is costing the industry over $1 billion annually.
